Jerome Booth, Chairman

Jerome BoothDr. Jerome Booth founded New Sparta Asset Management in 2015. He is Chairman of the board and a shareholder.

Dr. Jerome Booth is a well-known economist and leading expert on emerging markets.  In 2013 Jerome retired from Ashmore Group, a world leading emerging markets asset management group he helped establish in 1999 in a Management Buy-Out from ANZ Bank. Prior to ANZ he worked in the Strategic Planning unit of the Inter-American Development Bank from 1991-4 in Washington, D.C.

Prior to this, Jerome had appointments as a Lecturer in Economics at Christ Church, Oxford, a consultancy business advising on aid issues, and a position in the mid-1980s in her Majesty’s Department of Trade and Industry.

Chairman of the Governing Board of Anglia Ruskin University, Jerome has a D.Phil and an M.Phil in Economics from the University of Oxford as well as a B.Sc in Geography from the University of Bristol.

MAX TRAUTMAN, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Max Trautman

Max Trautman joined New Sparta Asset Management in 2017. He sits on the board as an Executive Director and a shareholder.

Max is an investment and risk manager with over 25 years’ combined buy- and sell-side experience in financial markets. On the sell side, Max spent two years at Citibank and 11 years at Goldman Sachs, where he structured financial products, managed trading teams, advised clients and invested proprietary capital. On the buy side, he co-founded multi-billion-dollar investment manager Peloton Partners, and later Stoneworks Asset Management. Most recently he managed a leveraged portfolio at Millennium Capital Partners.

He has been an active investor in UK renewables with his personal account since 2012. Max has a BA from the American University in Washington, D.C., and an MA in International Finance and Economics from SIPA at Columbia University in New York City. Prior to higher education he worked for six years as a commercial deep sea diver in the offshore oil industry in the North Sea, India and SE Asia and for three years as an independent floor trader on the SIMEX futures exchange in Singapore.

Ivo Arnús, Executive Director

Ivo Arnús joined New Sparta Asset Management in 2017. He sits on the board as an Executive Director and a shareholder.

Ivo began his career in the clean-tech sector in 2010 by advising several Clean-Tech PE funds in the City of London (i.e. Climate Change Capital, Greencoat Capital). Soon after, Ivo joined RWE Innogy’s portfolio company Quietrevolution as Project Development Director where he established and ran the development team and its operations. In 2013, Ivo moved to Norvento Enerxia, a successful Spanish developer, operator and technology manufacturer, as Director of Business Development where he stayed until joining NSAM.

Ivo is a seasoned deal originator and closer, having completed over 25 renewable energy projects with Norvento alone. Throughout these years in the industry, Ivo has acquired strong expertise in the areas of project development and operations of renewable energy plants in several countries.

Ivo has a Masters in Industrial Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and an MBA from INSEAD Business School.

IVO ARNUS, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Ivo Arnús joined New Sparta Asset Management in 2017 and is currently a Managing Director.

Brian Killman, Accountant

Brian is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants who has held senior finance positions in SME and PLC companies for the 20 years.  He has experience in a broad range of business sectors working in M&A, business transformation and operational finance.  Brian has a business and finance degree and holds an MBA from the University of Warwick Business School.
